Frying Pans Make the Most Unhealthy Type of Food Ever
Made of Cast Iron, tinned copper and aluminum, frying pans have been part of the cooking tradition for hundreds of years; they are present in almost all cultures and they are considered part of the very basic culinary customs of gastronomy. Very similar to the frying pans we use today, the old ones had the same broad, but shallow body with a long handle; the very design was imagined in such a way for the mere practical purpose of protecting the cook's hand that would have been too exposed over the fire. Frying pans were used in the cooking of basic dishes for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and despite the fact that we are presently aware of the unhealthy properties of food prepared like this, we cannot deny the truth that it is incredibly taste.
The main problem with using frying pans is that food can easily stick to the cooking surface ruining the taste, the looks and the aroma of the dish. Nevertheless, scientific development has made it possible to launch non-stick frying pans on the market, after the discovery of the special coatings that could prevent the inconvenience. The name of the non-stick surfaces was Teflon, and a new brand of frying pans was launched in the mid 50s.
With the introduction of the non-stick frying pans, cooks had to get used to avoiding metal spatulas or cutlery in direct contact with the frying surface, since the coating would be marred for good. Though inventors also made efforts to promote electrical frying pans on the market, they never got very successful and their production was drastically limited. Presently, any household usually has more frying pans: some classical and some others with modern non-stick coating. According to one's cooking habits, frying pans can be used on a daily basis or just now and then.
Despite their popularity, there are voices that claim frying pans make the most unhealthy type of food ever. Burned fat, even if it be of a vegetable origin is considered to be extremely dangerous for health, and should therefore be avoided as much as possible. Nevertheless, frying pans can be used for searing and other types of cooking too, according to the recipe you may be following, and they will never know complete ban from our kitchens, at least not as long as they are responsible for some of the tastiest dishes ever.
